  • SubjectErnst Rudolf Johannes Reuter (1889–1953) was a steadfast defender of freedom during the Cold War, most notably guiding West Berlin through the harrowing Soviet blockade. Having endured imprisonment under the Nazi regime, he sought refuge in Turkey in 1935. After the war, Reuter returned to public life and served with distinction as Mayor of West Berlin from 1948 until he died in 1953. This *Champion of Liberty* stamp honors his unwavering resistance to Soviet oppression and his enduring legacy as a symbol of democratic resilience.

NOTE: Please understand that we’ve made every effort to inspect these stamps for visual defects and imperfect gum. As amateur collectors, they’ve passed our 'keep' test (...and we're pretty picky ☺️). We believe that, although these postage stamp blocks are not professionally certified, they are in excellent condition.
