All plate blocks are in MNH (Mint Never Hinged) condition. Four different plates were used when printing the stamps. The corresponding plate numbers are 26498, 26499, 26500, and 26501. • Subject - Ephraim McDowell (November 11, 1771 – June 25, 1830) was an American physician and trailblazing surgeon, celebrated as the “father of ovariotomy” and a pioneer of abdominal surgery. This stamp commemorates the 150th anniversary of his landmark 1809 operation—the first successful removal of an ovarian tumor without anesthesia—a revolutionary feat in medical history.
