Scott #1166 is an 8¢ Champion of Liberty Series Postage Stamp Featuring Baron Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim.
All plate blocks are in MNH (Mint Never Hinged) condition. Two different plates were used when printing the stamps. The corresponding plate numbers are 26764 and 26769. If the plate number & position are not important when ordering, you can select 'Surprise me!'. Each separate plate block will come in a glassine envelope for protection.
- Subject - The US Scott #1166 stamp was issued on October 26, 1960, in Washington, D.C., as part of the "Champions of Liberty" series. This 8-cent tri-color stamp honors Finnish Marshal and President Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim (1867–1951), featuring a portrait based on statues in Helsinki. Baron Mannerheim was a pivotal military leader and statesman who played a crucial role in Finland's defense strategy during the Winter War (1939–1940) against the Soviet Union and the subsequent Continuation War (1941–1944), where he successfully safeguarded Finland's sovereignty.
